چکیده

Dynamic shapes represent an important issue in several scientific and technological contexts. The current article presents a model-based mathematic-computational approach for inferring the processes of neural evolution, including analytical mappings, convolution models and normal wavefront propagation, illustrated with respect to stationary and non-stationary evolutions along time and space. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Two hypotheses about natural intelligence

We assume that the natural intelligence (human, particularly) is equivalent to a large inferring structure, which took shape in the last 400/500 million years. Then two hypotheses, about this structure and its development, are put forward for consideration. The first one concerns the transmission, from one generation to another, of the structure: we propose that this passage is done by direct t...

Gene tree distributions under the coalescent process.

Under the coalescent model for population divergence, lineage sorting can cause considerable variability in gene trees generated from any given species tree. In this paper, we derive a method for computing the distribution of gene tree topologies given a bifurcating species tree for trees with an arbitrary number of taxa in the case that there is one gene sampled per species. Applications for g...

Inferring phenotypic evolution in the fossil record by Bayesian inversion

—This paper takes an alternative approach to the problem of inferring patterns of phenotypic evolution in the fossil record. Reconstructing temporal biological signal from noisy stratophenetic data is an inverse problem analogous to subsurface reconstructions in geophysics, and similar methods apply. To increase the information content of stratophenetic series, available geological data on samp...

A Useful Family of Stochastic Processes for Modeling Shape Diffusions

One of the new area of research emerging in the field of statistics is the shape analysis. Shape is defined as all the geometrical information of an object whose location, scale and orientation is not of interest. Diffusion in shape analysis can be studied via either perturbation of the key coordinates identifying the initial object or random evolution of the shape itself. Reviewing the f...

Coupling Top-down and Bottom-up Methods for 3D Human Pose and Shape Estimation from Monocular Image Sequences

Until recently Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) focused on acquiring behavioral information of the targets and their activities. Continuous evolution of intelligence being gathered of the human centric activities has put increased focus on the humans, especially inferring their innate characteristics size, shapes and physiology. These biosignatures extracted from the surveil...
